ScriptEd Student HackathonCongratulations to all the participants of ScriptEd’s third Student Hackathon this past Saturday! 35 ScriptEd students participated in the hackathon with the support of 20 volunteers. A huge thanks to Teach for America for hosting the event!

Students worked in teams of three to five to design and build projects over the course of six hours to fit within the surprise theme of “Random()”. The teams used the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding skills they’ve been developing all year.

The winning team created Soundmood,  a webapp that selects a song, photo, and color to match the mood entered by a user. The three members of the Soundmood team hailed from three different high schools: the Academy of Innovative Technology, Manhattan International High School, and Cristo Rey New York High School. Each member of the team walked away with an HP Slate Tablet, courtesy of HP. The Soundmood team also earned the “Best Use of an API” Award.

Be sure to check out all of the student projects — they are all incredible!
